Committee Set For NPP Manhyia North Election Was Made To Favour One Candidate - Fmr Constituency Sec

Former Manhyia North Constituency Secretary for the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region, Ibrahim Felix has described the just ended much awaited election to choose polling station executives for the constituency as the worst election ever.

According to him, the Committee which was headed by Maxwell Kofi Jumah to look into the polling station election was set up basically to favour one of the Parliamentary aspirants, Nana Osei Bamfo challenging the incumbent, Hon. Collins Owusu Amankwah.

Speaking on Okay Fm’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show, Ibrahim Felix who is at the camp of Hon. Owusu Amankwah averred the party’s security apparatus, Delta Forces was used deliberately to set confusion in the election as against earlier warning not to use them to meddle in the polling station election.

“I will say that the committee set to resolve the Manhyia North melee was created for Nana Osei Bamfo, because everything that they did was done to favour him. Can you imagine the forms have three different signatures? The forms given to me for my people had the signature at the side of the form and those given to Osei Bamfo had the signature at the top-left, whereas Kwasi Konadu’s forms have been signed at the top-right to differentiate the candidates contesting the primaries,” he alleged.

Less than 24 hours to the elections, the Chairman of the Election Committee, Maxwell Kofi Jumah, resigned, accusing the Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, and the Deputy Regional Organiser, Mr Daniel Boateng of impeding the process.

Narrating the incidence during the election, Ibrahim Felix alleged that at the Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Polling Station, an unidentified man snatched the electoral materials from the electoral officer and run away with them.

He said the process was full of irregularities so the constituency would not accept the results; adding that the election must be reviewed, otherwise the exercise will be done in vain.

He again alleged that the electoral officers harboured the intent to play mafia in the election as they intimidated the people taking part in the voting.

He said “the whole process was fraught with problems and there is no way we are going to accept the results from this election. We will protest it; the election must be rerun.”

But Nana Osei Bamfo on the same platform indicated that the comment by Felix Ibrahim was expected as people don’t easily accept defeat; reiterating that the polling station election was done successfully.
