Mahama Gov't Is "Tax Freak" - Sammy Awuku

Sammy Awuku says the Mahama government is tax freak.

Speaking on Peace FM's 'kokrokoo', the National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) expressed disgust over the manner at which Ghanaians are being governed by the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Sammy Awuku noted that under the able leadership of President John Dramani Mahama, all that the government has succeeded in doing is introducing new taxes on Ghanaians.

He cited the street light levy, condom taxes among others as a way to burden the citizenry.

“Who doesn’t know that this government is a tax freak? They take delight in taxation. And in fact, nobody should forget that it’s this same government that introduced taxes on condoms at a point when we were planning on how to prevent HIV/AIDS . . . this same government, at a time when you are encouraging people into agriculture, then it will put taxes on cutlasses,” he said.

He urged Ghanaians to be wary of the Mahama government, stating emphatically that "we have reached the point where propaganda must give way to reality.”

He added that the government will soon fast-track more businesses into their graves.
