NDC Zongo Coordinator In Awutu Senya West Joins NPP

The governing National Democratic Congress’ (NDC), Zongo Coordinator in the Awutu Senya West Constituency of the Central Region, has told Citi News he has defected to the camp of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Alhaji Issah Haruna said he has been neglected by the NDC and the Member of Parliament for the area, Hannah Serwaa Tetteh, who is also the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

“l campaigned for Hannah Tetteh in 2012, we did all the work for her to win Awutu Senya, after all this hard-work she has abandoned and neglected me.”

Alhaji Issah Haruna also expressed frustration about his inability to work in the constituency as the Zongo Coordinator.

“Since my appointment, I have not had the opportunity to work, the NDC is frustrating me, some constituency executives even say if they don’t stop me, l may rise to become Constituency Chairman which they are kicking against.”

Alhaji Issah Haruna also said he has joined the campaign of the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for the area, George Nnyani Andah. The defected NDC member said he identifies with the message of George Andah and wants Hannah Tetthe and the NDC voted out.

Threats on his life Alhaji Issah Haruna alleged that some elements within the NDC have been threatening him following his decision to leave the party.

“I have been getting calls from people in the NDC in the constituency threatening me.

They say if l return to the constituency they will deal with me. Am in Bolga now, but am coming back this week.”

The Awutu Senya West constituency is one of the hot spots in the November polls.

Incumbent MP and Foreign Affiars Minister, Hanna Tetteh, will be contesting against former Chief Marketing Officer for MTN Ghana, George Nnyani Andah.

Hanna Tetteh’s former campaign manager defects to NPP  A disqualified NDC Parliamentary aspirant in the Awutu Senya West Constituency, Lieutenant Col. Danny William Osardu, also in 2015 defected to the NPP citing underdevelopment in the constituency.

Lieutenant Col. Danny William Osardu, who also was campaign manager Hanna Tetteh in the 2012 election, said the constituency lacks the needed development and he believes the NPP and its parliamentary candidate, George Andah will bring that development.
