<<Print>>A group known as Friends of Chairman Adams Mahama (FOCAM), sympathisers of the New Patriotic Party(NPP), in the Upper East Region, has pledged to pursue the late Mahama's vision of capturing at least seven seats in the region for the NPP in the November polls.
Currently, the NPP has only the Nabdam Constituency as its seat in the region.
The group made the pledge during the occasion to inaugurate the 15 branch executive members and three zonal coordinators of the group to commemorate the first anniversary of the death of Mr Mahama and to galvanise efforts to keep his vision alive.
Mr Mahama, who was the Upper East Regional Chairman of the NPP, died through an acid attack on him by assailants on Thursday, May 21, 2015.
Activities
The FOCAM has expanded its activities as it currently has a 10- member branch executive in each of the 15 constituencies of the region. At the regional level, FOCAM has an 11-member executive, who have formed disciplinary and other sub-committees.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Regional Coordinator of FOCAM, Mr Martin Amogre, stated that "we are gathered here to let the NPP, true patriots of democracy and true adherents of our party’s motto: Freedom in Development know Adams’s dreams are alive and will be attested to come November 7, 2016".
"We are here to say we (FOCAM) are ready to work together and with all party members, polling station, constituency, regional and the national executive members to ensure that the NPP maximises her share of votes for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo come November 7, 2016,” he said.
Mr Amogre, therefore, assured Nana Akufo-Addo that his call on NPP faithful to rededicate themselves to the struggle to redeem the country and return her to the path of progress and prosperity was active and alive.
"To attain this noble cause, the entire membership of FOCAM wishes to call on NPP activists and those who believe in our party's ideology in the region and beyond to reflect on the core pillars of Adams’s life, which was truth and loyalty, togetherness and sacrifice in order to propel us to victory in the November polls,” he further pointed out
