Kwame Adinkra Stabs Atinka FM

Atinka FM’s morning show host, Kwame Adinkra, is trending following widespread reports that the 2015 RTP Morning Show Host of the Year is going back to Kumasi to continue his radio career.

Kwame Adinkra, who has signed a five-year contract with Kokomlemle-based Atinka FM, may be running away from Accra’s stiff competition to his comfort zone in Kumasi.

He had been supported by Atinka FM to move to Accra where he clinched the RTP award along with Kofi Asare Brako aka Abatey, who grabbed the Sports Presenter award with total support from the station owners.

According to reports, the EIB group, managed by Bola Ray, has managed to lure the former Angel FM presenter with a mouth-watering offer to go back to Kumasi to handle the ‘Morning Show’ programme   of   their new kid on the block, Abusua FM, which has already begun test transmission.

Kwame Adinkra has not forcefully come out to deny the fast- spreading rumour, giving much credence to the story, especially with Kwame Adinkra and   the CEO of EIB, Bola Ray, in a pose purportedly signing an agreement.

Industry critics see the move, if true, as  very interesting  because Kwame Adinkra has  been in Accra for just a little over a year after ruling the airwaves in Kumasi  for several years. They believe Kwame may be finding the competition in Accra too tough; hence, his decision to recoil to his comfort zone (Kumasi) where there is little competition.

Accra airwaves are dominated by big boys such as Veteran Kwame Sefa Kayi, Captain Smart, Fiifi Banson, Fiifi Boafo, Ekuoba Gyasi, among others, and it has been speculated that it is difficult for  Adinkra to break  through,  hence the decision  to run back home.

Since the news broke, Kwame Adinkra has become the subject of jokes among entertainment critics who believe he may lack self-confidence and that this might have informed his decision to go back after a year’s stint in Accra.

Those who belong to this school of thought also cannot understand why somebody who has just won an award (RTP Morning Show of the Year) would stab his employers in the back after being provided all the needed support.

Atinka FM is a relatively new station and has bright   prospects, judging from its programming and awards won in recent times.  It’s therefore difficult to understand why a professional with several years of experience in the radio industry would ditch such a promising radio station in the middle of the journey.

However, insiders indicate that Adinkra leaving the station prematurely may not have any significant effect on the station as there are equally good presenters who can replace him. “When he was on sick leave for almost three months, his absence was not felt because the one who stood in for him did a good job,” DAILY GUIDE learnt.
