In a string of tweets on Wednesday, Asamoah Gyan, skipper of Ghana’s National Football Team, the Black Stars made it clear that he finds his football world an attractive venture than the political front where politicians compete for power.

The statements were meant to serve as answers to spurious allegations made by host of Muntie FM’s Pampaso, Mugabe Maase, on Monday to the effect that the flagbearer of New Patriotic Party flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is being financed by Asamoah Gyan.

Mugabe had also wanted to know if the Shanghai-based striker still remained a national team captain or was now a partisan politician.

A panel member on his show also pointed out that the opposition leader was at the outdooring of Asamoah Gyan’s three-million-dollar mansion at Weija in Accra in June 2015, suggesting a link. 

To answer the question raised by the host, Asamoah Gyan called on owners of the media entity via twitter to "call Mugabe to order": "Say no to irresponsible journalism, the owners/managers of Muntie fm must call Mugabe to order.  I'm a footballer and not a politician.." (sic)

This was followed by a second tweet which read: “I serve GH not politicians nor parties, I don't fund politics, there's more joy in charity and philanthropy n my works are my evidence”. (sic)

His last tweet on the matter read: "Journalism is a noble profession, say no to irresponsible Journalism... hate can't win.. get a life n God will bless u..." (sic)

Before trading these words with Mugabe Maase, Asamoah Gyan had added his words of comfort to the legion of sympathies to President Mahama. 

He tweeted: “Game day my heartfelt condolence to the President @JDMahama, the family n Ghana on the death of “Mami”..mothers cannot be replaced...” (sic).
