Former Black Stars left-back Habib Mohammed set for GPL return

Former Black Stars defender Habib Mohammed is set to return to the local League after revealing talks with some Clubs in the domestic top-flight.
 
The 32-year-old has been on the low since shooting to fame after an excellent performance for Ghana at the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany.

Habib who was once regarded as one of the best left-backs in the country has been unattached for close to a year after ending his contract with Iraqi Club Al-Talaba.

The former Smouha defender says he is in talks with some local Clubs as he looks forward to re-launch his career in the Ghana Premier League.

“There were some chaos in the country, so I couldn’t continue after my contract, most people don’t know am even back in the country,” he told Accra FM.

“I am in talks with some local Clubs so I might sign for a local Club and play again in the Ghana Premier League.”

The former King Faisal defender featured in Ghana’s wins over Czech Republic and the USA at the 2006 FIFA World before getting injured prior to the round of 16 match against Brazil.
