CPP Warns Ivor Greenstreet

The Convention People’s Party has taken a swipe at its flag-bearer Ivor Greenstreet for not consulting the Party before making pronouncements on President Mahama’s ‘Ford Expedition Gift’ saga.

Mr. Greenstreet, earlier on noted he sees nothing wrong with President Mahama receiving a Ford Expedition as gift from a Burkinabe. A position that was contested by the Youth wing of the Party.

Speaking with Kasapa FM, the General Secretary for the CPP, Nii Armah Akomfrah sounded a warning to the flag-bearer to henceforth consult the party for its position on issues before making any public pronouncement.

According to him, the flag-bearer cannot take an entrenched position for the party and must desist from such acts.

“Our own Founder Osagyefo is our benchmark and John Mahama falls far short of that benchmark. Corruption is corruption and no one needs any permission or consultation to call it corrupt. Flag-bearer’s come and go but Political Parties remain and endure, in our case we have just marked 67 years. We can thus only assume that the Flag-bearer was speaking for himself and not the CPP. It is not for Parties to consult their Presidential Candidates but for Candidates to consult the Party on issues and the Party stance”. He told Maame Broni.

He further downplayed rumors of confusion in the decision making body of the CPP insisting that, the Party’s position on corruption is clear and thus, the flag-bearer must be aligned.
