Is Kwabena Agyepong Under Threat? Sam Pee Yalley Queries

Sam Pee Yalley, Ghana's Ambassador to India has wondered why Kwabena Agyepong absented himself from court in the matter of Paul Afoko's suit contesting his suspension as National Chairman of the NPP.

Is he under threat?” he queried.

The embattled General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Kwabena Agyepong was billed to appear in court on Thursday as a prosecution witness for Paul Afoko but many who attended the hearing were disappointed to learn that Mr Agyepong had declined to attend the proceeding.

At the hearing, lawyers of the suspended Chairman told the court that Mr Agyepong had indicated he was no longer available for that purpose.

Contributing to a panel discussion on Radio Gold’s Alhaji and Alhaji, Sam Pee Yalley said it was a wrong step for the suspended General Secretary to leave Afoko in the ‘cold’.

Morally it’s a breach of trust…if all of us decide to do something, we must be strong enough in deciding…what has happened? Is he under influence? Is he under threat or is it to reposition himself in the party? I think it is a wrong step he has taken…it will not help his case in the party. If he did it for reconciliation purposes, fine but…!

Nonetheless, he does not believe, Kwabena Agyepong’s absence in court will affect Afoko’s case.

Betrayal Is Pure Speculation

The Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper on the otherhand does not think Kwabena Agyepong is under threat or has betrayed the former Chairman of the NPP.

I don’t see any betrayal anywhere…the issue of betrayal is pure speculation…I have known Kwabena for some time and throughout the times that I have known him, there is nothing that he has done that will indicate to me that he is an opportunist…
