Unemployed Nurses Angry With NDC Man

A group of newly trained nurses in the Western Region are up in arms against a deputy national communication officer of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to the aggrieved nurses, they were angry with one Kweku Boahen, the said NDC communication officer, for recently making an alleged derogatory statement against them on Kumasi-based Angel FM.

The nurses claimed that the NDC communicator’s statement sought to suggest that all newly trained nurses had been employed by the government, with the exception of those who failed some of their subjects.

The group, mostly from the Sefwi Wiawso and Asankragwa Nursing Training Colleges, numbering over 100, besieged the premises of Skyy Power FM in Takoradi yesterday with their results slips and certificates to rubbish the claim of Kweku Boahen.

They brought an audio recording of the statement the NDC communicator made to justify their anger.

The nurses lamented that the claim of Kweku Boahen had rather worsened their plight at home since their parents and guardians had been insulting them for failing their examination while that was not the case.

They claimed that over 2, 100 newly trained nurses, both certificate and degree holders, in the region were languishing at home without any means of livelihood.

They told listeners that they had all been bonded by the government and as such no private facility could employ them.

They therefore called on the NDC communicator to retract his statement whilst they waited on government to fast track their employment to mitigate their suffering.
