Sika Warns Jackie, Nadia, Others

New Ghanaian actress, Romana Afi Sika Dzuali has thrown what is perceived to be a hefty challenge to her big sisters on Ghanas silver screen, as she informs them to watch out for her since she will be taking over from them in the not too distant future. The beautiful, tall actress said she is as good as Jackie Appiah or Nadia Buari. Thus all she needs now is more roles and some time to sell her talent to cherished movie-goers. Most stars started from minor roles like I am doing now. So that does not mean I dont aim high for lead roles. You guys should just watch for out me, she said in an exclusive interview with BEATWAVES. Growing up as a child, she had always dreamt of gracing the silver screens. But like Alice in wonderland, she patiently waited for the right time while paying attention to her education. Some people are made for certain professions and Sika indeed is one of such examples. After several years, she finally arrived on the scene last year. With only three movies to her credit, Sikas acting prowess has started getting resounding attention. It all started when she bumped into the CEO of Venus Films, Abdul Salam Mumuni during an audition for a TV presenting job. Salam asked her if she was interested in acting; she answered in the affirmative and the rest is history. Her first role was as a TV presenter in Venus Films Playboy. She stepped up with a bigger role in Princes Bride, and also stars in the hot new movie Heart of Men. Heart of Men is my favourite movie because I was able to express the other side of me. The other roles I have played in previous movies were good girl roles, but Heart of Men was like diversification. It is different, she said. The actress, who was born in the Volta Region, is a down to earth, easygoing and resilient person. She never gives up when challenges stare her in the face. It is challenging in the industry and I have learnt a lot from working with already established stars. Trust me, it has not been easy but it is all good. That is the essence of the industry. Sika started schooling at the Achimota Primary School. She continued at the Aggrey Memorial High School in Cape Coast and ended up at the Central University College. She is currently at Zenith College reading Marketing. Sika, who is still single, expects to occupy a very big place in the movie industry and hopes to become a producer or movie marketer.
