Estranged Coach David Duncan says he is now spoilt for choice and could land a lucrative local or foreign deal in the coming days after parting ways with Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
The Board of Directors of Kotoko finally parted ways with Duncan by mutual agreement last Wednesday following a feud which began in April when the club’s management asked the forthright coach to step aside after six league games due to poor results.
A press release signed by the Board Chairman, Mr Paul Adu-Gyamfi, said, “The Board of Directors of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club is pleased to announce to its teeming supporters and the general public that the impasse between Kotoko and Coach Duncan has been amicably resolved and a mutual termination package agreed upon at a meeting held at the Kotoko Secretariat on Wednesday, June 22, 2016.”
Reacting to the decision in an interview with the Graphic Sports last Thursday, a clearly satisfied Coach Duncan stated he was content with the mutual agreement rumoured to have fetched him a fortune of about GH¢80,000.
“I’m content with the agreement and the mutual termination so I can move on,” he admitted.
While expressing his contentment with the terms of payment of the termination package which will be in instalments, Duncan further disclosed that the mutual termination would afford him the luxury of considering the numerous offers he received from some local and foreign clubs during the period.
“I’ve got too many offers from clubs in the Ghana Premier League, Asia and East Africa but I had to wait till I was through with Kotoko,” he revealed.
“About three of them are very very top local teams but I cannot mention names now for obvious reasons.”
A seemingly fulfilled Duncan stated he had now put his experience with Kotoko behind him and was focused on the prospects ahead.
Duncan took over from Mas ud Didi Dramani under similar circumstances last season at a time Kotoko were struggling after 10 league matches.
It would be recalled that Coach Duncan benefited from a similar arrangement with Hearts of Oak two seasons ago when his contract was terminated by mutual consent.
