Kweku Baako has condemned remarks by the Assin Central Member of Parliament Kennedy Agyapong against the Electoral Commissioner Charlotte Osei.

Mr. Kennedy Agyapong claimed the EC Boss was appointed to her position after trading sex with some topnotch personalities in government.

He has since come under various attacks from some characters in the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, Koku Anyidoho called on the wife of opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Rebecca Akufo Addo to address the issue or forfeit her ambitions to become the first lady of the Republic of Ghana.

Former Central Regional Minister and Council of State member, Ama Benyiwa-Doe also described Mr. Agyapong as misogynist, stressing that he has never respected women.

Speaking on Peace FM's Kokrokoo, the senior journalist opined the remarks by Mr. Agyapong could have a collateral damage on the NPP.

Mr. Baako further bemoaned Mr. Agyapong's attack on the EC Boss, stressing that he's being unfair to Mrs. Charlotte Osei.

He noted that any reservations about the Commission's work should not be directed at the dignity of the Chairperson or personalities within the Commission.

“It’s not good PR. It’s not good public image for the party of which Kennedy Agyapong belongs. I’m telling you. He’s not going to be a singular loser in any public assessment of the matter. It has a collateral effect on the party that he belongs to," Mr. Baako noted.

To him, Kennedy Agyapong's allegations are "out of order. So, even in her case as a public officer chairing entity like the EC; I think that’s not a fair critique to make. And to say ‘fair’, I’m being charitable. I should use harsher words…”

Hypocritical NDC?

But Central Regional Secretary of the NPP, Kwamena Duncan, speaking on the same platform, slammed the NDC for acting as if they are saints.

He was particularly galled by the hypocrisy and dishonesty being exhibited by activists of the ruling party.

Warning the NDC to also openly condemn its members whose posture demean the dignity of women, he alluded to the verbal onslaught unleashed by one-time Presidential Staffer Haruna Alidu on women, the physical attack on NPP MP for Ablekuma-West, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful at Odododiodio which some NDC members attempted to justify, and the social media sex video of Foreign Affairs Minister Hannah Tetteh's son, and wondered why the Minister was not condemned for allowing her son to expose the womanhood of his sex partner.

“What they could not do. What they did not do? What they did not say. What they did not condemn? Today, they’ve found their voices; hypocrisy and dishonesty!” a charged Kwamena Duncan said.
