Kotoko To Face Hearts Friday

The Accra Sports Stadium will once again be set agog on Friday, July 1, 2016, when Accra Hearts of Oak clash with Kumasi Asante Kotoko for the President’s Cup, which has eluded the Porcupine Warriors for some time.

Kotoko appears battle ready to face their arch-rivals as they have agreed to fly to Accra moments after this afternoon’s Premier League match against Wa All Stars in Kumasi.

The chairman of GHALCA, Mr Kudjoe Fianoo, told the Graphic Sports on Tuesday that all arrangements for the titanic clash had been completed, and the two clubs were combat ready.

He disclosed that a China and Dubai-based international financial investment advisory firm, ANFD, had agreed to sponsor the President’s Cup, which is played annually on Ghana’s Republic Day in honour of the sitting President.

According to Mr Fianoo, ANFD, which had been operating in some Francophone and other West Africa countries, want to announce its presence in Ghana with the Hearts-Kotoko match.

He added that two other companies, FRIMPS Oil and Ice Pack, were also providing the needed support to make the match more attractive.

Kotoko, the GHALCA boss disclosed, demanded to be airlifted to Accra tonight which the sponsors agreed to enable the team reach Accra on time and have ample rest tomorrow before meeting Hearts on Friday.

He assured that GHALCA was also in touch with the local government to help arrange for other local derbies across the country as part of the expansion of the President’s Cup to give it a national appeal.
