I don't need $10,000 to play for Ghana - Baba Rahman

Ghana defender Abdul Baba Rahman has jumped to the defense of himself and his Black Stars teammates insisting they do not play for money.

Players of the National team have been heavily criticized due to the huge sums of money given to them as winning bonuses.

The Black Stars players recently went into an agreement with the Ministry to have their winning bonuses slashed by 20%, this reducing it from $1000 to $8,000.

There have been several calls by football enthusiasts to have the bonuses of the team reduced to enable the Ministry cater for the other Sporting disciplines.

Baba Rahman in an interview with GTV says players of the National team do not play for money

"I don't need $10,000 to play for the nation. I play for the nation with my heart. And I know most of the players don't play for Ghana because of $10,000.

It is just an arrangement between the players and the management that we will give you this ($10,000) if you win. Me personally, I don't need it.”

The Black Stars are yet to receive their winning bonuses for the victory over Mauritius in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
