Ghana Entertain Benin In Cotonou

Ghana will enter tomorrows World Cup qualifying game against Benin in Cotonou with a winning mentality though the Black Stars have already qualified for the 2010 World Cup and Africa Nations Cup to be hosted by South and Angola respectively. Coach Milovan Rajevac has called his best players for the game but some few regulars, including Sulley Munatri and John Mensah are out of the squad. The coach has indicated his readiness to maintain a 100 percent recorded in the qualifiers by beating both Benin and Mali in the last two matches. Captain Stephen Appiah, who has been linked with Schalke FC in Germany, Michael Essien, Anthony Annan and John Painstil are all expected to be in action. Meanwhile, Africa's remaining four places at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa could be decided on the last day of matches. Ghana have already qualified for their second successive finals and they will be joined by the Ivory Coast if they win or draw in Malawi on Saturday. Algeria, Tunisia and Cameroon can also reach South Africa if they win this weekend. In Group A, Cameroon can complete a remarkable comeback and clinch a World Cup place this weekend, if they beat visiting Togo on Saturday while Gabon loses at home to Morocco. The Hawks are currently third in the group with five points; two behind Cameroon but the players are confident of a place at the World Cup. Gabon have won all but one of their games at home in the qualifiers so far. In Group B, Tunisia will qualify for their fifth World Cup finals on Sunday, if they beat visiting Kenya and hope Nigeria loses or draws at home to Mozambique. Mozambique and Kenya are realistically in a battle for a place at the Nations Cup. In Group C, the Pharaohs will play Zambia away this weekend; but Algeria will qualify for the tournament if they defeat Rwanda. In Group D, Mali are realistically hoping for a place at the Nations Cup in Angola when they play against Sudan. Mahamadou Diarra is also expected to join the squad after a long injury. In Group E, Many observers of football are already tipping Ivory Coast as the African country to qualify for the World Cup in 2010. The Elephants are likely to miss Manchester City defender, Kolo Toure. Didier Drogba will prove too strong for a Malawi after beating Burkina Faso 5-0 in Abidjan. Meanwhile, Guinea will clash with Burkina Faso at the Ohene Djan Stadium because of the political unrest in Guinea.
