Residents of Sekyikrom in the Nsawam/Adoagyiri constituency in the Eastern region whose property were destroyed during the construction of the Nsawam-Kumasi by-pass have threatened to block the road if government continues to delay in making full payment of compensation to them.

According to some of the affected residents who spoke to Peace FM in an interview today, only 8% of the compensation has been paid to some of the them since the year 2000.

They said though the Ghana Highway Authority (GHA) and the Land Valuation Board have completed the necessary documentation for the full payment of the compensation to them, the GHA continues to delay in fulfilling its promise.

They complained of going through serious hardship as a result of the destruction of their properties (buildings).
