The Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr., is challenging the Mills� administration to prevail upon the British government to help provide answers to some pertinent issues raised during the Mabey & Johnson bribery trial.
He is also asking the British government to show its commitment to fighting corruption by handing over to Ghanaian authorities, the M&J Directors who pleaded guilty in the scandal; to face court related charges and subsequent prosecution.
�Eventually,�we need to get these British Directors of M&J to Ghana�if the British government is genuinely committed to accountability, probity and anti-corruption�we have to ask them and the British government must provide their nationals to be questioned under the laws of this country, and if it turns out that they indeed gave bribes, they should be served with the same punishment�in bribery cases, the giver and the receiver are all guilty�the British government must make them available to face the consequences of their actions here in Ghana,� he stated on Peace FMs �Kokrokoo�.
The outspoken socialist accused the British construction firm of undertaking shoddy works in the construction of bridges between 1995 and 1999 the period under which the bribery acts occurred in Ghana.
�� investigations show they (M&J) did a shoddy work� it has also been established in the SFO Report (UK) that the work they did in Ghana was shoddy�imagine constructing bridges and using inferior materials to construct those bridges�it can lead to the death of so many people and even undermine national development,� he said.
