We Dont Wear Skirt & Blouse In NDC Veep To Supporters

Vice Presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and vice president of the republic of Ghana Kwesi Amissah- Arthur has admonished party supporters not to “vote skirt and blouse” in the 2016 elections adding that it could damage the chances of the NDC in retaining power.

Addressing the chiefs and people of Pong –Tamale and Langbensi he said he had come there to pay homage and also seek permission to campaign on their land and introduce the NDC’s parliamentary candidate Abdulai Alhassan Red to them officially.

The Vice President addressed hundreds of NDC faithfuls at Pong –Tamale and Langbensi in the Savelegu constituency of the Northern Region.

He said should “any independent candidate come and say he’s for President Mahama and that he’s the President’s choice so they should vote skirt and blouse”, they should ignore that fellow because “it’s a lie”.

He said as they can see government is developing the area and would continue to do more hence the need to give President Mahama a second term.

‘Skirt and Blouse’ is a term in Ghanaian politics where party supporters vote for the flagbearer of the party but not the parliamentary candidate of the same party or vice versa.

He said “If we take the hurt from the election of our candidates into the national elections we will be making a big mistake. The big mistake is that our anger would get us to vote skirt and blouse and in the NDC, we don’t wear skirt and blouse.

We vote Zu for the President and Za for the parliamentary candidate.” He further indicated that a more concerted effort is needed on the part of the supporters to retain the party in power to continue to developmental agenda of President Mahama.

He used the occasion to introduce Abdulai Alhassan Red as the NDC’s parliamentary candidate for the area.
