Elton John Pulls Out of Second Gig

Sir Elton John has cancelled a second concert at short notice after doctors advised he was too ill to perform. The star, 62, has called off Saturday's show at Newcastle Metro Radio Arena as he continues to recover from the flu. It follows the cancellation of Friday's gig at Sheffield Arena which, it was hoped, would allow him to recuperate. "Elton is bitterly disappointed at missing tonight's Red Piano concert in Newcastle. one of his favourite areas to perform," a spokesperson said. "The crowds are always great music fans and not being able to put on this special show for Newcastle is upsetting," the spokesman added. The singer's next scheduled show is at London's Wembley Arena on Tuesday, followed by Liverpool's Echo Arena on Wednesday. Ticket holders for both the Sheffield and Newcastle show have been told to retain their tickets, and a further announcement will be made on Monday.
