Proton Sports Limited, a sports consortium believed to have brokered the Ghana football Association's sponsorship deal with TV Broadcasting firm StarTimes are set to receive 20% of the deal, FA vice President George Afriyie has confirmed.
 
The Ghana football Association signed a 10-year TV rights deal worth $17,950,000 with the Chinese outfit (StarTimes) two weeks ago.

The deal will also have StarTimes establish 10 artificial pitches and also provide an OB van to aid in the broadcasting of matches.

However the facilitators of the deal (Proton Sports Limited) could be receiving a whopping US$ 3.6 million out of the $17,950,000.

“Yes, there was a third party in the deal (Proton Sports), they actually brokered the deal and are entitled to 20% of the deal,” George Afriyie told Nyirah FM.

“But we are looking forward in making sure the money is used for what we have actually planned”

StarTimes holds exclusive rights to broadcast all matches in the Ghana Premier League, FA Cup, Women’s League, Colts football and Beach Soccer starting from next season.
