Albert Anthony Ampong, the Chief Director of the Ministry of Youth and Sports who was interdicted over the famous Muntaka Pamper/Khebas Scandal, will appear in an Accra Fast Track High Court this morning. He had dragged the Attorney-General and the Head of the Civil Service to court and is praying for a court order to compel the Head of Civil Service to allow him resume normal duties as Chief Director. Mr. Ampong and Adim Odoom, the Principal Accountant at the Ministry who made startling revelations of financial impropriety against the then Minister for Youth and sports Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak, were both interdicted after President Atta Mills directed the National security Coordinator to conduct preliminary investigations into the matter. After the last sitting, the office of the A-G begged for an adjournment so it could file its response and the case was accordingly fixed for today. Mr. Ampong has described as �unlawful� the President�s decision to accept the report on the case from National security and is accordingly seeking for a judicial review. In an affidavit in support of the suit, Mr. Ampong noted that though he was not the subject of the National security investigations, he, a witness, was rather interdicted and put on half salary. He argued that the investigating committee failed to bring him and the former Sports Minister, Alhaji Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, to cross examine each on the $20000, which he insisted he gave to the former minister. �it is pertinent to note that at the time I was called to appear before the committee, the honorable Minister had already appeared before the committee and given evidence in my absence�, Mr. Ampong added, and stated further that not only was he denied access to his lawyer during his interrogation, but that the committee failed to record the several protests he made during the interrogation, even though he was assured the protests would appear in the final report. The embattled Sports Minister has since resigned his position.
