Michael Essien Dreams Big

In his hanker to be the hope and an inspiration for the youth in Ghana and Africa, midfield ace-Michael Essien will officially launch his foundation, the Michael Essien Foundation (MEF) on November 15th, this year, in a dinner dance at the State House in Accra. Considered as the Worlds 7th best player, the Chelsea star, who hails from Awutu Breku in the Central Region, has outlined a five year plan with the Ess Team (Pure Persona), after a feasibility study in the area and consulting with some of the elders and people of Awutu Breku. These projects will take the form of a bottom up approach, where MEF will work with the community to give back to them exactly what they need. The plan will include organizing an annual sports day ad building a recreational centre for football, Library for school kids, Local clinic with support and screening, a scheme for farmers among others. There will be a dinner dance to launch the foundation officially and outdoor the 5-year plan that MEF has for the Awutu area. Tables at the dinner-dance will be sold to companies and individuals. The foundation will be directed by a Board of Trustees and will aim to give the underprivileged in Awutu and its immediate environs access to basic amenities; raise funds to support some of the local projects in the area and also to mentor and encourage the youth to live healthier lifestyles through the organization of sports days. An auction of some great sporting memorabilia including Michael Essiens 2009 Community Shield winners jersey would be conducted. Expected to grace the launch of the Foundation are the Vice President H.E John Mahama, Black Stars skipper Stephen Appiah, among others.
