Stalking Charge for Ryan Seacrest Fan

A 25-year-old US Army reservist has been charged with stalking American Idol host Ryan Seacrest. Chidi Uzomah was arrested on Friday after he was stopped by security guards at cable network E! in Los Angeles, where Seacrest was recording a show. A restraining order filed by Seacrest's lawyers after the incident claimed Mr Uzomah was carrying a knife. He was already on probation for attacking one of Seacrest's bodyguards while trying to meet the star. He had pleaded guilty to assault, battery and carrying a knife after that incident at a charity event in Orange County. On Friday, security guards at the E! building held Mr Uzomah until police arrived after recognising him from photos distributed after the previous scuffle. In a declaration for the restraining order, filed on the same day, Seacrest wrote: "His aggressive and violent efforts to come into physical contact with me are extremely frightening to me. "They have jeopardised not only my personal safety but also the safety and well-being of those around me." Mr Uzomah faces up to four years in prison if convicted of the felony charge of stalking. He has also been charged with two lesser misdemeanour counts of trying to disobey a previous court order by attempting to see Seacrest. Mr Uzomah is due to appear in court on Tuesday to enter a plea.
