Biakoye NPP Parries Tension Claims

With the desire to win the heart of the presidency even before the appointments of District Chief Executive (DCE) getting heated, many are those applying all manner of tactics to paint other genuinely and eligible candidates black.

One of those areas where such schemes have been exposed is the Biakoye District of the Volta Region, where party executives have expressed disquiet over recent claims that they (executives) have raised red flag over their preferred candidate.

According to Mr. Suleman Moru, the party’s constituency Chairman, who came to the offices of the Ghanaian Observer and the New Crusading GUIDE newspapers respectively yesterday, the public should disregard any claims that the executives had raised red flag over their own preferred candidate.

“At the regional level we had a meeting where the executives were tasked to present candidates for the position- we therefore held elections for 16 candidates out of which 12 were vetted, two couldn’t make it due to personal reasons and one boycotted” he indicated.

He said a certain Korsina Daniel, whom they suspect was the architect of palpable falsehood being circulated; was one of the candidates scheduled for vetting but boycotted it on the grounds that he owed a bank whose premise the vetting was taking place.

“We therefore presented four candidates namely, Comfort Atta, Samuel Osei Bonsu, Samuel Genya and Obosti Dickson to the presidency for vetting and consideration by the president”, he added.

The Chairman said Madam Comfort Attah had contested elections twice in the constituency, in 2012 and 2016, and was strongly backed by the former DCE, Solomon Dickso, Lawyer Onny Kwamme, a legal brain in the District, Edward Collins Boateng, Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Export Promotion Council.

Mr. Suleman commended Mrs. Comfort Attah for her immense contributions towards the success of their party over the years, as a result which has earned her the support and admiration of majority of the electorates in the area.

“She is the only candidate among all the other candidates who stood by the party through thick and thin, she contested the parliamentary both in 2012 and 2016. Although she lost, she never gave up.  She has fought a good fight, and with her intellectual prowess and records in public administration we the executives have decided to give her the mandate and our support, we want a better Ghana under his Excellency Nana Addo, and not some self-interest-seeking people”, he noted.

Mr. Moru who was accompanied by the organizer, Mr. Tawiah Maxwell, Takyi Kumi , treasurer , Carlos Henry Danso, Deputy Organizer and Abubakari Nasara  said Biakoye District is likely to see a divided front if Comfort Attah is not appointed to the position of DCE since all the executives have  endorsed her.
