Portuphy’s Leadership Divided Us...Some NDC Bigwigs Didn't Want To Work For Mahama!

NDC’s Deputy Volta Regional Secretary, Mustapha Gbande has rubbished a directive by the National Executive Committe for its members to cease from commenting their 2016 loss on radio.

He says the order is “baseless” and vowed that “we will not stop talking about how bad they led us to opposition. Who does that?

The statement signed by National Chairman, Kofi Portuphy asked members to channel their concerns to the Kwesi Botchwey led committee-that was set up to investigate the cause of the humiliating defeat of the NDC.

Some senior members of the NDC have launched verbal attacks on former President John Dramani Mahama.

He has been described as incompetent and a 'naked' leader who surrounded himself with inexperienced people - but the statement has called for ceasefire.

The statement read: ''The National Executive Committee has noted with concern the tendency of some party members to take to the media on the circumstances leading to the party's loss in the 2016 elections and who may have contributed to the loss.

"Much as we all have a right to speak out; the use of the media to run down fellow party members is rather unfortunate and must end."

The National Executive Committee of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has ordered members particularly, elected officers to desist from running comments in the media on reasons why the party was defeated in the general polls.

But Mustapha Gbande on NEAT FM’s morning show dubbed 'Ghana Montie' says the leadership of the party must be held responsible for the defeat.

According to him, “There was no unity in the party. The unity they claimed was in the NDC was cosmetic. Kofi Portuphy’s leadership divided the party till now. And some also do have presidential ambitions so didn’t want to work for the President [John Mahama].”
