Ceasefire . . . We'll Ride On Coattails Of Mahama's Achievements In 2020!

Director of Elections of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has called on all party members to cease all attacks on the personality of former President John Dramani Mahama.

Speaking on Peace FM's Kokrokoo, Ofosu Ampofo said the party will ride on the coattails of the former President's achievements to campaign in the elections, come 2020.

According to him, President John Mahama left behind a solid legacy that can help the party to regain power in the next four years and therefore implored the party faithfuls to put a stop to attacks on his (Mahama's) person.

Nobody under any circumstance should attack the personality of the former President. And it’s a very [very] important statement because whether we like it or not, whether he will stand again or not; in the year 2020, we’ll be going to campaign on the record of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama. And for me, I think that he has a very solid record upon which the NDC can campaign in our quest to regain power, come 2020.”

Touching further on the internal strife in the party, Mr. Ofosu Ampofo advised the party to stop washing their dirty linen in public.

He asked since when did it become appropriate for the members to address party conflicts using the media as a tool.

He therefore urged the members to utilize the Committee set up by the party to address their grievances and further ensure that the conflicts and misunderstandings within the party are dealt with internally.

If you want to succeed as a political party and as an individual, you must put the party interest above your personal parochial interest," he stated.
