Member of Parliament for Akuapem South, Hon. Osei Bonsu Amoah, has stated that never his dealings with businessman, Alfred Agbesi Woyome, did he take GH₵75,000 from him to support his course.

To him, the NDC financier will be the best person to confirm or deny supporting his political course financially.

“I have never seen GH₵75,000 in my life. So for the issue of taking GH₵75,000, the Police have gone through it, EOCO has also gone through it and nobody has called me before any court. I see it as part of the political fallout of some of these things,” he noted.

Mr. Amoah, who has been nominated by the President to deputize the Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Hajia Alima Mahama, made this remark when he appeared before the Appointments Committee, Thursday, for public hearing over issues relating to the position he has been designated to.

His response was in connection to a question posed by Alhassan Suhuyini who to find out from him whether he has ever received or cashed GH₵75,000.00 from Mr. Woyome’s accounts.

Hon. Amoah commenting further told the Committee that efforts made by the NDC government to link officials of the erstwhile NPP administration an attempt to indict the John Agyekum Kufuor-led government.

“If you bring this whole thing into a wider perspective, I think it was an attempt to indict the NPP administration as far as the stadia construction is concerned. Thankfully, because some of us have been in that ministry [Ministry of Youth and Sports], we were able to set the records straight. If you look at the Supreme Court Judgment or even Justice Appau Commission report – nowhere is O. B. Amoah or NPP indicted in this matter. I have a copy of the white paper by the NDC signed by President Mahama – and if you go through this paper which is supposed to be government’s view on that matter among others on the Commission’s report, I saw it as an attempt to indict the NPP government as far as this Woyome matter is concerned. And we had stated from day one as far as we are concerned, we did not owe anybody after we had left office regarding the stadium construction.”
