11 Celebrities That Played Major Role In Election 2016 Outcome

A year today, Ghanaians lined up to vote and eventually the outcome of the elections turned out to be for change of government.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) led by Nana Akufo-Addo wrestled power from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) captained by John Dramani Mahama.

During the 2016 presidential election, the pre-election polls broadly predicted that John Mahama was likely to win. Some estimates of him becoming president were as certain as 55 percent but that didn’t happen.

Prior to the elections day, some Ghanaian celebrities played diverse roles in supporting political parties of their choice and also putting the ruling government on its toes through demonstration.

Award winning actor John Dumelo did not sit on the fence, he also joined the 2016 campaign team of the NDC.

Kumawood actor Agya Koo contributed to NPP’s victory by campaigning vigorously for them.

Musicians Lucky Mensah, A Plus and Daddy Lumba were not left of the campaign party, They joined NPP campaign platforms and also released songs to support their campaign.

Actor Mr. beautiful and highlife artiste Rex Omar also campaigned for the NDC.

Gospel musician evangelist Diana Asamoah contributed her quota to NPP’s victory by campaigning for them.
