Former Sports Minister Shocked About GFA’s Tightlippedness Over Osaafo Maafo’s Corruption Comments

Former Sports Minister, Honourable Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, says he’s surprised about how the Ghana Football Association (GFA) are mute over the recent corruption comments by Senior Minister, Yaw Osaafo Maafo.

Recently, Senior Minister Osaafo Maafo who was once the Minister of Youth and Sports back in 2005, made some damaging comments about corruption in Ghana football with many Ghanaians expressing their disinterest in the local game which largely led to the downward surge of Ghana’s football.

Speaking on the Football Legends Night Show on GHONE TV last Friday, Hon. Vanderpuye feels vindicated by the recent comment by the Senior Minister as bribery and corrupt practices have taken over our football.

“I was very happy last time when Honourable Osaafo Maafo spoke about corruption and I was expecting them [GFA] to be as venomous on him just as they were on me, just as they
were on Kwabena Yeboah, as well as Jon Benjamin.

“You see the thing is, people have grown up to love Ghana football, so people are not happy about the way football is going and the will definitely express their thought,” Hon. Vanderpuye said on the Football Legends Night Show on Ghone TV.
