It said the Party "deemed these two appointments befitting and indeed a further amplification of the party's long cherished and fundamental position that the African personality would triumph one day". "Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the Party's Founder, stated this long ago, and it is gratifying that during his centenary celebration of his birth the Star of Africa is rising again," the statement said. It said Mr. Blay-Amihere had distinguished himself as a seasoned journalist, objective and Pan-Africanist in outlook and as a diplomat in these two troubled sister ECOWAS countries, he distinguished himself and skilfully played a leading role in bringing peace and comfort to people ravaged by years of civil wars. His service has been described by many as very illustrious. Dr. Chambas has been the top executive of ECOWAS for over eight years, and has been the leading advocate for integration of the West Africa Sub-region. "As President of ECOWAS Commission, he pushed the ECOWAS agenda towards greater integration through proactive engagement in the sub-regional conflict areas, "the statement said.
