Ursula Owusu: Osh! We Goofed

Vice President of FIDA, Ursula Owusu, says the pharmaceutical company, Kinapharma has every right to demand apology from the Ghana Police Service for destroying its hard-earned reputation. According to her, the police should have apologized once they realized the allegation was not true. The police themselves should have come out to say Osh! We goofed, she said. News broke on Thursday that three officials from Kinapharma, a pharmaceutical company, had been arrested on suspicion of importing cocaine into the country. Before the police could conclude investigations, information about the arrest was leaked to the media, however the police found out that thier suspicions were unfounded as the chemicals turned out to be precursors. Consequently, the management of the company has demanded a formal apology from the police administration.Madam Ursula Owusu who was speaking on Metro TVs Good Morning Ghana on Monday noted that it was improper for the police to have gone public with the issue while investigations were ongoing and advised that they learn a lesson from the situation. You dont just rush to put such a story out there, she maintained. They also ought to be a bit circumspect in the manner in which they carry out their investigations, she cautioned. She, however, noted that the conduct of the police has ruined not only the reputation of the company but also the very livelihoods of those who work there.
