Lets Have More Of That

Supporters of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) heaved a sigh of relief when they heard of a meeting between the President on one hand and some leading members of the party at the Presidency to discuss issues affecting the party. The news came as a relief following the recent wrangling in the party and public utterances from leading members, including former President Rawlings and the Majority Leader, Mr. Alban Bagbin. There were concerns within and outside the party over the seeming confusion within the party and the lack of cohesion, contrary to what prevailed when the NDC was in opposition. The confusion was not limited to the headquarters but the entire nation, where foot soldiers and other supporters appeared to be disillusioned and disappointed with leadership. Much as the meeting came a bit late, eleven months into the NDCs reign, if is much welcome since, as the saying goes; it is better late than never. It is the hope and belief of supporters and Ghanaians that this meeting would set the tone for more consultations and dialogue to frestall any future recurrence of such incidents which have serious repercussions for the party and Ghana as a whole. The Catalyst would like to add its voice to the numerous supporters and Ghanaians, who deplored the disorder and lack of cohesion in the party. We wish to encourage the leadership of the NDC to continue with such encounters to ensure unity within the party. It is also our hoped that the mechanisms that existed prior to the victory in 2008 would be revived to bring back the magic that made the revived to bring back the magic that made the NDC the most united and preferred party in the country. The great family cannot be allowed to break apart to the advantage of our rivals who are shedding crocodile tears in our challenging moments. We have a duty as a party in power to meet the aspirations of the masses and disunity would not help our course. This a good sign and we want to see more of it. United we stand, divided we fall.
