Obour voices out about his British Council sponsored trip to the COP 15 conference in Denmark as a Climate Change Icon. "I am here to add my voice to the call for Climate Justice and to participate in the numerous side events accompanying the COP 15. Already I have participated in the CNN YouTube debate on climate Change where I questioned panelist on the effects an increase in population has on Climate. During the 10 minutes break, I interacted with the host from CNN and the panelist on the fate of Aids and donations (towards malaria, HIV AIDS, clean drinking water etc) to developing countries in Africa in relation to commitments to compensate or mitigate for the effects of their emissions on Developing countries", Obour said. Obour also disclosed that he will be attended the Former United States Vice President Al Gore's Speech where he urged world leaders at the Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen on Tuesday to speed up a binding deal on Climate Justice. Obour revealed that he will be meeting the Ghana delegation including the Minister of Environment and among the numerous things they would be discussing will be what adaptation measures Ghana will adopt to mitigate the effects of Climate Change. "I will also be finding out how far Ghana as a country has applied the Article 6 of the Kyoto Protocol which includes education and advocacy on Climate Change", he added. On Thursday, will be attending and performing at the BBC Youth Debate and the Baaba Maal Concert respectively. This event is been organized by the BBC, Danish Television and British Council which will be broadcasted live on BBC and Danish Television. Obour will be returning to Ghana on Saturday where he will be sharing his Denmark experience with numerous musicians and different groups. On 20th January 2010, with support from the British Council, Youth Icons and World Bank will be holding a workshop for 300 musicians on Climate Change at the British Council Auditorium. The aim is to get musicians to use music as a platform to advocate and create more awareness on climate change issues. Also as part of Obour's Ghana Reads Library Project, a special section in the library will be created to serve as a climate change reference library for children who are the future of this world.
