Stephen Appiah And Sulley Muntari Out Of Nations Cup

Ghana omits captain Stephen Appiah and Sulley Muntari from their Nations Cup team as Milovan Rajevac names a 23-man squad. The Serbian coach today announced the list which includes six members of the Fifa World Under-20 winning team and also hands places to Hans Adu Sarpei and two local players. Dominic Adiyiah makes the cut as Junior Agogo misses out. Appiah, who is recovering from injury will thus miss his second consecutive CAN after injury ruled him out of the same tournament two years ago in Ghana. No official explanation has been given for the omission of Sulley Muntari but sources claim that Rajevac is not impressed with the Inter Milan midfielder's form. Ghana's team will commence preparations for the tournament on December 28 in Nelspruit, South Africa. The Black Stars are in Group B together with Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso and Togo as the four-time champions look for a fifth success.
