Thirteen out of the 28 members of Nkoranza District Assembly have declared a "vote of no confidence" in the District Chief Executive, Mr. Kwadwo Adjei-Dwomoh and have called for his removal.
The group submitted their resolution to the Presiding Member, Mr. Benjamin Adu Darko, at the general meeting of the Assembly at Busunya and walked out of the meeting.
Copies of the resolution, which was signed by all the 13 members, were sent to the District Director of the Electoral Commission, the Regional Electoral Commission and the District Chief Executive.
They said in the resolution that the DCE's "continuous stay in office will undermine the development of the district" and levelled five charges against him.
They alleged that Mr Adjei-Dwomoh bought a grader for the Assembly and hired it to contractors without the knowledge of the Assembly members and received bribes from some newly employed Zoom Lion workers.
He is also alleged to have been awarding contracts without the knowledge of the District Tender Board and used the Assembly's tractors on his agricultural projects free of charge.
In his reaction the Presiding Member said the body would meet in three weeks' time to deliberate on the motion from the 13 members.
Mr. Adjei-Dwomoh, in an end of year message, expressed gratitude to the people for their services to the Assembly and urged them to promote unity, peace and understanding to enhance the development of the district.
Mr. Yakubu Abdul Raham, Nkoranza North district Co-ordinating Director, appealed to the Assembly Members to sensitize the people to honour their taxes to enable the Assembly to execute more development projects.
