‘Gringo’ is intro to my next album showcasing me internationally - Shatta Wale

Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale says his recent ‘Gringo’ music video is to help introduce him to the international community and break barriers.

According to him this is only an introduction to his new album.

The song ‘Gringo’, which Shatta Wale explains as referring to a foreigner in Mexican terms is about 1minute 40 seconds - shorter when compared to an average 3 minute song in recent times.

The dictionary explains ‘Gringo’ [male] or Gringa [female] as a term, mainly used in Spanish-speaking and Portuguese-speaking countries, which may have different meanings depending on where it is used. In some Spanish-speaking countries in Latin America, gringo refers to someone who is foreign and new in town.

In the 7-minutes video, Shatta Wale plays the character of El Shatta who rolls in town only to be caught up in a gunfight in the back in the day southern American set music video.

Shatta Wale however survived the gunfight in the beautiful well thought out music video, his first since signing on to Zylofon Media.

He sings the one minute 40 seconds song somewhere along the line in the 7-minutes video shot from the Blanco province in Texas, USA, at the Buggy Barn Museum. The video has a cast of 23 made up of intentionally acclaimed film actors and also features Bulldog from Zylofon Media.

The video was directed by internationally-recognised video director, Sesan, for Film Factory and produced by David Nguyen.

Shatta Wale told Adom TV over the weekend that he has been in the industry for long and wanted to prove to people that - from Bandana to Shatta Wale – he wants to prove to the world that this is a stranger who has come to conquer.

He said the song was made for Ghanaians but the music video is meant to break barriers and introduce Shatta Wale to the world.

On why the song is short, Shatta Wale said it just an introduction music to his next album for everybody in the world to just know who Shatta Wale is.

“I said a whole lot of things in one minute some seconds… so I just felt like doing an introduction before my album and already its reigning and people are talking about it.

"I have had collaborations from outside, so its gonna be a great album but it is an introduction so people should watch out, he told the TV station."
