I Fear No One In The Chairmanship Race – Alhaji Short

Alhaji Abubakari Abdul-Rahman, also known as Alhaji Short who is aspiring to be National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) says nothing from his opponent, Stephen Ayesu Ntim will stop him from contesting the NPP chairmanship race.

“I fear no one in this race. In this world, if you fear somebody in a race, then you are not serious at all. I’m ever ready to lead my people”, he intimated.

“When I’m going into a contest, I don’t take anyone for granted. We just have to put in our best” he added.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosiisen Monday, Alhaji Short said his intention was to return the three regions in the north to the UP tradition which started up north.

According to him, it’s unacceptable that most of the founding members of the UP tradition such as Jato Kaleo, Abayifar Karbo, SD Dombo and a host of others came from the north and yet the NPP is not dominant in the area.

“My priority is to first make sure the north returns to the UP tradition where they should belong and then make sure the rest of the country see the NPP as the only party that has their welfare at heart”.

He said he has been at the helm of affairs for three consecutive terms and believes his experiences at the grassroots level are key to keeping the party in government.

Alhaji Short stated that he has worked tirelessly from the grassroots level to the top and believes he has a lot up his sleeves to offer his party and its wonderful members at the national level.

Asked by show host, Ose Bonsu if he has the full support from the President, he replied, saying “That is your suggestion and that is my opponent’s allegations. I don’t want to talk about such issues. I need the President as a voter and he needs people who are capable to work and support the party”, he said.

According to him, before he decided to contest, he spoke to some party bigwigs including the President “who only told me to go and try my best”, he said.
