Government has been urged to institute measures to prevent alleged diversion of chemicals meant for the cocoa mass spraying exercise by spraying gang members.
The MP for Asunafo South, Hon. George Boakye gave the advice in an interview with Peace FM.
According to Hon. Boakye, reports reaching him from some parts of his constituency indicate that, some cocoa spraying gang members have allegedly been selling chemicals meant for the free spraying of cocoa farms.
Commenting on the current producer price of cocoa, Hon. Boakye said, cocoa production target for 2010 as stated in the 2010 budget cannot be realised if the current producer price of GH�138 per bag is not increased to prevent smuggling of cocoa to Cote D�Ivoire where the price is said to be equivalent to GH�200 per bag.
