Fiako Regrets Shameful Image For Ghana Football After Anas Expose

Mr Kwame Ntow Fianko, a former Division One League Chairman, has said the investigative piece by Anas Aremeyaw Anas on football, premiered in the last two-days, tarnished the names of other honorable people in football.

He said after the premier of the expose, all football workers in the country would be presumed to be corrupt in the eyes of the public, even the good ones, leaving no room or little for trust.

Mr Fiako, speaking in an interview with GNA Sports, said, he was down-hearted, after watching the film, because what he saw was not pleasant.

“I watched it yesterday and what I saw was not pleasant. Ghana football has been brought to a level that, I was shocked and I felt ashamed for Ghana football,” he lamented.

Mr Fiako, who was some time ago known as a Kwesi Nyantakyi campaigner, publicly urged the former Ghana Football Association (GFA) boss, not to run for elections in 2019 in a bid to seek for a fifth term in office.

The 1st Vice President of Confederation of African Football (CAF), after initially saying he had no intentions of running for office in 2019, later on, after his vice George Afriyie announced his intentions to contest for the post, recanted his initial statement, declaring he would seek a fifth stint.

It was during this time, Mr Fiako, who was also a legal practitioner advised against Nyantakyi making such move.

Asked if a fore sense of the Anas’s expose and an insight into what was installed for Nyantakyi made him give such advice, the former DOL chairman said, “no, I did not see this coming when I said that. It was my 38 years’ experience in football administration.

“I said he should step down and go out with honor, so that others can come and take up the mantle, but no I did not see this coming”.
