UK To Invest £20 million In Support Of Akufo-Addo's "Ghana Beyond Aid"

The British Government will be investing 20 million pounds to enhance trade relations with the Government of Ghana, UK High Commissioner H.E Iain Walker has disclosed.

H.E Iain Walker, in an exclusive interview with ace broadcaster Abeiku Santana on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 on Okay FM's Drive show "Ekwanso Dwoodwoo", noted that the British government is committed to the Akufo-Addo government's "Ghana Beyond Aid" policy.

He commended President Nana Akufo-Addo for introducing the policy, believing it would help strengthen trade relations between the two countries.

According to him, the British government has already invested 2 million pounds to address Ghana's health challenges and other economic areas.

Speaking to host Abeiku Santana, the UK High Commissioner to Ghana stated there is a mutual relationship between Ghana and the UK.

He was optimistic the government's vision to make Ghana a country with little or no need for aid from developed foreign countries would foster investor relations.

He indicated that, as part of measures to support the vision of the current administration, the UK government is giving Ghana £20 million to invest in the economy.

"We really support the idea of Ghana moving beyond aid. We think that's a great thing and that's the kind of partnership we're aiming to do...It has to be true. Ghana has to move beyond aid", he stated.
