All Stars' Reign Faces Kotoko Threat

Clubs will be jostling for positions as the league prepares to head into the final stages of the first round with the premiership set for a break before the start of the 2010 African Cup of Nations in Angola. There will be match action nationwide in the days leading to the break over the weekend. All Stars three-day reign at the summit of the league will be put to test when they visit a revived Asante Kotoko side at the Baba Yara Stadium on Wednesday. The Blues edged to the top over the weekend as they continued their recent run of impressive performances in the Glo Premier League. But their penultimate fixture against the Porcupine Warriors before the first round of the premiership calendar draws to an end on Saturday. Kotoko, lying 10th on the standings appear to be grinding results after a rather poor start to the campaign and they would be seeking to make it three wins out of three when All Stars come to town. The clash between Liberty Professionals and Hearts of Oak is another topliner in midweek as both sides attempt to carry on from their wins over the weekend. Kessben FC, who are second on the table but level points with the leaders, will be hoping to reclaim top spot in the event of a slip by All Stars when they host Heart of Lions to the Anane Boateng Stadium. Sellas Tetteh got his first win in six matches and would want to add the Phobians to his latest list of defeated sides at the Ohene Djan Stadium. The form guide tilts in the favour of Hearts after their 3-nil demolition of Berekum Arsenals last Sunday. Aduana Stars top four ambitions faces a stern check at the Sekondi Stadium where they clash with Eleven Wise. After their narrow defeat to Asante Kotoko, Chelsea will be hoping to bounce back when they play Great Olympics, who are starred with life in the bottom three at the El-Wak Stadium. The Len Clay Stadium will host the local derby between AshantiGold and New Edubiase FC while Berekum Arsenals welcome struggling Sekondi Hasaacas to the Golden City Park. The woes of King Faisal could be further worsened at the Tamale Stadium where they will take on home team, Real Tamale United.
