Breach of Radio and television rights - AFCON 2010

The National Office of the Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (G.I.B.A) has called on any radio or television station interested in running commentary in any of the Angola 2010 matches to communicate its interest, in writing through the National Office of GIBA to the Head of Marketing, Ghana Broadcasting Corporation. A statement issued by the Executive Secretary, Gerald Ankrah on behalf of the Executive Council of the Association copied to GNA Sports said that any breach of the AFCON 2010 rights (radio and television) by any radio and television station in the country would attract severe sanctions from the Government of Ghana. The Association said it is therefore informing all radio stations (commercial, campus and community) that the rights ( radio and television) for commentary on all the matches of the Africa cup of Nation-Angola 2010 for the territory of Ghana have been acquired by the government of Ghana and vested in the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation. "All radio and television stations are therefore advised to abide by the rights of the GIBA accordingly'.
