Fabin To Face Legal Action For Quitting Kotoko

Kumasi Asante Kotoko have initiated moves to ensure their head coach, Paa Kwasi Fabin, sees through his one-year contract with the club after he tendered in his resignation yesterday.

The coach’s sudden resignation came as a shock to the Porcupine Warriors who least expected the coach and his physical trainer, Derrick Osei Owusu to abandon the club midway through their contracts after yesterday morning’s training session.

The spokesperson of Kotoko, Sarfo Duku, who confirmed this to the Daily Graphic yesterday, was surprised by the decision although he admitted that the club had a cordial working relationship with both staff.

That notwithstanding, he said Kotoko would not let them go without legal action being taken against them, and hinted that the process had already commenced as the club’s management had forwarded their resignation letters to the club’s legal team for advice.

“We have given the letter to our lawyers to reply them because we still have a contract with them. These are legal matters so we will leave it with the legal team to deal with it,”Mr Duku said.

Coach Fabin was contracted last year to replace Steve Polack who was fired due to poor performance, but had to terminate his contract yesterday, stating in his resignation letter that “the decision had become necessary because of my personal conviction that it was time to bow out due to circumstances beyond my control.”

“Moreover, I deem it is the right time to exit as the league here has been suspended and above all to enable any replacement to be able to familiarise with the team and continue with the success chalked so far”, the coach added.

Coach Fabin’s resignation has sparked off speculations over his sudden decision to part ways with the club as sources hinted of a circulating video in which the coach was seen negotiating with a South African club.
