Ao! Ghanas Oil In Danger

Intelligence reports picked up by the Accra Times can authoritatively confirm that stalwarts of the immediate past New Patriotic Party (NPP) government have established phoney oil companies and oil training schools across the country to milk the yet to be fully explore oil industry. The reports, according to the Accra Times in the oil industry, have uncovered that such oil companies established by these NPP stalwarts are being fronted for them by their wives and children. The newspaper is reliably informed that when the NPP under the leadership of the then President Agyekum Kufuor (JAK), in collaboration with KOSMOS Energy, a company owned by the former United States Vice President, Dick Chenny, announced the discovery of oil in commercial quantities at Cape Three Points in the Western Region, stalwarts of the party (name withheld) started scouting institutions abroad, which offer courses in the petrochemical industry and succeeded in paying huge sums of dollars to get admissions for their children and wives for them to acquire the skills to enable them front for them when the country begins full exploration of the oil at cape Three Points. In view of this, lands in the Western Region have been acquired by these NPP politicians cum businessmen to advance the agenda of milking the industry at the expense of majority of Ghanaians. The Accra Times is also reliably informed, that His Excellency President John Evans Atta Mills has indicated that his government will required all lands that had already been acquired by individuals in the Western Region for the smooth take off of the exploration of oil in commercial quantities. The President made this statement when he toured the Western Region to show his gratitude to the chiefs and people of the region who voted massively for him in the last general elections. It is however not clear how these NPP stalwarts are going to run their oil business if the decision is so effected by the Mills administration. In a related development, some individual institutions claiming to be oil experts have stormed the twin city of the Western Region, Sekondi/Takoradi, and are extorting huge sums of monies from the youth with the pretext of offering them education in the oil exploration. Some of these institutions according to reports have already bolted after making huge gains. Meanwhile, government has been advised not to put its hope on the oil exploration too much for its not going to rescue the country from its economic crisis as it has been made to believe.
