Kpando District tops Volta Regional Sports Festival

Kpando District emerged the overall winner of the maiden edition of the Volta Regional Sports Festival which ended on Tuesday at the Ho sports stadium. The Festival which was under the theme 'Sports for Unity, Peace, Health and Higher Productivity,'' Saw about three hundred (300) athletes competing for laurels in Handball, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Soccer and Athletics. Kpando District won nine gold, six silver and two bronze medals followed by Ketu South District in second position with four gold medals, South Dayi District was third with two gold, two silver and four bronze medals while Ho District had five silver and one bronze to place fourth. Mr Joseph Amenorwode, Volta Regional Minister who was the Special Guest of Honour expressed optimism about the potential to unearth sports talents in the Region for development and pledged the support of the Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC) to realize such a laudable objective. Mr Gabriel Yao Missodey, Regional Sports Development Officer sent his appreciation to Diamond Cement, Home Lucky Raffle and Paul's Fashion for their sponsorship packages towards organisation of the Festival.
