Fans Hijack Ramsey & Desmond Elliot At Silverbird

Last Friday was perhaps one of the most usual or most terrifying moments for Nollywood actors Ramsey Nouah and Desmond Elliot in Ghana when they had to accommodate unflinching demands from fans for photo opportunities. Fans who trooped to the Silverbird Cinema to see Desmond Elliots new movie Guilty Pleasures, which he produced with Emem Isong, did not anticipate the presence of both Ramsey Nouah and Desmond Elliot at the event. However seeing them together at the ceremony was kind of a bolt from the blue. Earlier reports had hinted that Desmond might be in town for the premiere, but Ramseys appearance was a total surprise. Seeing the two stars enter the premises of the Silverbird Cinema on Friday, accompanied by producer Emem Isong and a number of other colleagues, had fans in seventh heaven. The ladies especially screamed and crooned their names. Finally when they had the opportunity to take photos, it was a nice sight to see as fellow journalists were not left out and as they hijacked the stars from others who wanted to do one on-one interviews. In a 10-minute encounter with the media, Desmond, reacting to a question posed by BEATWAVES, said his movies are doing well in Ghana. My first movie, Reloaded, was loved in Ghana. That is the good thing about you guys. Ghanaians are very passionate about drama, especially drama that is well pulled. So that informed our reason to come here and premiere. We did not premiere Reloaded here, but because of the response we got from Ghana when it was marketed here with Before The Light; we decided to premiere here with the help of Marhills & Gupado Production. Patronage of the premiere was however not as big Silent Scandals back in December. Among Ghanaian actors who passed through were Lydia Forson, Sika, Roselyn Ngissah, Luckie Lawson, and Fred Nuamah, among others. Guilty Pleasures is a story about a desperate and assertive housewife, Liz (played by Nse Ikpe Etim), who is locked up in a boring and dreary marriage and is confronted with the challenge of dealing with a self-conceited and controlling but loving husband, Teso, and an irritating brother in-law. In search of fulfillment, respect and satisfaction, Liz finds herself emotionally attracted to the exuberant brother-in-law she detests. The movie was first premiered in Nigeria before coming to Ghana. Desmond disclosed on Friday that the movie will surely be released in Ghanas market in late February if things go according to plan.
