GHALLYGOLD Awards Launched

The much anticipated GHALLYGOLD Awards set to honour hard working actors, producers, director, writers, the technical crew and all involved in the Ghanaian movie industry has been officially launched at the Coconut Grove Regency Hotel in Accra. At a glamorous ceremony, those who make things happen as far as the Silver screen is concerned came in their numbers to grace the occasion on Tuesday January 12. Some of the Stars present on the night include: Actress Vivian Achor, Juliet Ibrahim, Helen Omaboe, Beverly, Afaglo, Kojo Dadson, Harry Laud, Augustine Abbey, Oscar Provencal, Willam Akufo, Ekow Smith Asante, Bob Smith Jr., Socrates Safo, Mr. Mohammed Gado, Kojo Dadson and other familiar faces. The night began with a tribute and brief history of the Ghanaian film industry by Mr. B.M Imoro. A lecturer from the University of Cape Coast (UCC) Dr. Yankah outlined the Role of the Spokes of the Make Believe industry. A short documentary, on the revolution of celluloid film to video in Ghana was screened. The GhallyGold Awards organized by Item 3 House Ghana Limited in collaboration with Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG) was duly launched by Mr James Ebo Whyte of Reverman Production. The animated version of the statuette to be awarded was unveiled on the night. In his speech, Mr. Rockson Adu Boahene C.E.O of Item 3 House an event management company expressed his to see his dream come true �GHALLYGOLD Award is to acknowledge the talent and achievement of both past and present personalities in Film making in Ghana. I have always dreamt about this and today I stand here to see it happening. This has come to stay and GHALLYGOLD will project Ghana to the International film market� he stated.
