The Chairman of the Upper West Regional Football Association, (RFA) Alhaji Dauda Yahaya, has appealed to executives of Colts Clubs in the Region to ensure that they present the proper ages of players who would participate in this year�s colts league for screening. Alhaji Yahaya noted that the practice of presenting over aged players for competitions does not only make the screening process difficult but it also affects the entire development and beauty of the sport. The Chairman said this when he met with the various executive members of Colts Clubs on Monday at Wa to discuss the screening and registration exercise for the 2010 Colts football league season which would be held in April. Alhaji Yahaya stressed that on many occasions the Region had been confronted with the problems of screening of players even at the national level where such over aged players� performance were affected thus many of them constantly screened out. He therefore advised the Club executives to ensure that they make available cards of already registered players during the screening to avoid double registration. The Regional Chairman said the FA would embark on the reconstitution of the Regional Juvenile Committee to attend to the needs of all registered Colts Clubs in the Region. �The Regional Juvenile Committee is the prerogative of sports development in the Region and is devoid of any external influence�, he pointed out. The Club executives appealed to the RFA to speed up the process of reconstituting the Committee to enable it come out with the registration fees and other charges on time. They said if this was done earlier it would give the Clubs enough time to solicit for funds from benevolent individuals and organisations to beat the dead line since most of the executives were not gainfully employed. Mr Abdul-Karim Luqman, Chairman of the Upper West Regional Colts Clubs� Association appealed to the RFA to consider creating an Under 17 Club as well as a formidable Division Two Club in the Region. He stressed that most players in the Region ended their football career at the Under 12 and 14 because there was no upper stage for them to continue with their talent development.
