NDC Budgets 8 Million Cedis For Presidential Primaries

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has budgeted GHC 8 million for their impending Presidential Primaries.

Speaking in an interview with host Kwami Sefa Kayi, the NDC General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketia explained that due to the increase in the number of delegates for the primaries on January 26 next year, it has become prudent that the party makes arrangements to effectively cover the cost.

“Our budget is around 8 million Ghana cedis. I also said the delegates’ list is almost three hundred thousand", he said.

Mr. Asiedu Nketia was commenting on recent developments in the opposition party's upcoming primary to elect a flagbearer.

Upon intervention by the Council of Elders of the party, the National Executive Council (NEC) has finally reduced the filing fee for the primaries from GHC 400,000 to GHC 300,000.

The party leadership has also extended the deadline for filing of nomination to Saturday, December 8, 2018.

However, the GHC 20,000 fee for picking nomination forms remain same while the party has moved the primaries which was initially scheduled on January, 19 next year to January 26, 2019.
